How to Locate and Harvest Conduit Crystal in Subnautica 2

By

Introduction

Conduit Crystal is a key resource in Subnautica 2, essential for crafting the Feedback Resonator and the Bioscanner upgrade. These upgrades enhance your existing tools with powerful new functions, making exploration and combat far more efficient. You’ll only need about five Conduit Crystals in total — and that’s all they’re currently used for, so gathering them is a quick, one‑time errand. However, you cannot collect this material without first unlocking the Tadpole Depth Module. This crucial upgrade allows your submersible to reach depths below 250 meters, where the crystals are found. Follow this guide to secure your supply and upgrade your gear.

What You Need

Step‑by‑Step Instructions

Step 1: Craft the Tadpole Depth Module

Before you can reach the depths where Conduit Crystal spawns, you must upgrade your Tadpole submersible. Locate the blueprint for the Tadpole Depth Module — typically found in wrecks or data boxes in the middle depths (100–200 meters). Gather the required resources (listed in your fabricator) and build the module at a Vehicle Upgrade Console. Install it in your Tadpole’s upgrade panel. This will push your sub’s maximum depth to at least 300 meters, giving you access to the crystal zones.

Step 2: Equip Your Sonic Resonator

The Sonic Resonator is your primary mining device. Make sure it’s crafted and equipped before you set out. You’ll use it to blast the crystal nodes — a single focused sonic pulse is enough to break them free. If you haven’t built one yet, scan fragments near the starting area or in hydrothermal vents to unlock the blueprint.

Step 3: Navigate to the Alien Ruins Area

Your destination is the Alien Ruins biome, specifically around the Angel Comb structure below the Alien Power Plant. Begin at the Alien Ruins Research Base — a prominent landmark with glowing arches. From the base, set your compass bearing to approximately 120 degrees (east‑south‑east).

Step 4: Locate the First Conduit Crystal

As you approach the branching tube, look for a narrow ledge to the left of the alien structures. Ascend carefully onto this ledge. You’ll find a single Conduit Crystal node protruding from the rock. It resembles a piece of coral dipped in molten metal — shiny, metallic, and slightly jagged. Note: There is often a second crystal directly below this ledge, in a small crater near the Angel Comb. Check both spots.

Step 5: Harvest the Crystal

Aim your Sonic Resonator at the node and fire. The crystal will shatter and float as a collectible item. Swim over to grab it. If you have inventory space, you can store it in your Tadpole’s cargo compartment. Repeat for any other crystals on the same ledge.

Step 6: Find Additional Crystals in the Ravine

For two more Conduit Crystals, navigate to the northeast from the Angel Comb. Follow the purple tube that descends into a deep ravine. Keep going until you see green‑glowing pools on the ravine floor. Just before reaching those pools, scan the right‑hand wall — you’ll find two more Conduit Crystal nodes on a ledge. Harvest them in the same way.

Pro Tip: While you’re in the area, you can also scan a Feedback Resonator blueprint near the first crystal location. This is one of the upgrades that uses Conduit Crystal, so scanning it now saves a trip later.
